Spokane Valley woman rescued after missing for 4 days in Central Washington

<p><p>A 68-year-old woman reported missing last Thursday was rescued earlier this week after her car had apparently traveled down an embankment near Blewett Pass. </p></p><p><p>Lynell McFarland of Spokane Valley was reported missing after visiting a friend in Ellensburg on the evening of Nov. 18, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office. Although she had not been answering calls and texts, authorities were able to trace her cellphone to the area.</p></p><p><p>An alert crew of Washington Department of Transportation workers performing maintenance on the pass along Highway 97 spotted McFarland’s car Monday evening. The car was about 40 feet down an embankment, <a href=”https://wsdotblog.blogspot.com/2021/11/maintenance-crew-goes-above-and-beyond.html?fbclid=IwAR08PG3fslz1GdEgb_59cvOGiSdjJmKfPIBLenpyMl3C_cfdwTwsd-ti86k” target=”_blank”>according to a blog post by WSDOT</a>. </p></p><p><p>A rescue team including members of the Washington State Patrol, WSDOT, several Chelan and Douglas county fire districts and the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office rappelled down to the scene of the crash and rescued McFarland from the vehicle. </p></p><p><p>The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office reported McFarland had suffered minor injuries and was hypothermic when she was found, but was conscious. She was transported to Central Washington Hospital for treatment, and is expected to recover, according to the Sheriff’s Office. </p></p>
